Not a new idea

Linux, Apache, MySQL, PHP: the LAMP stack running this very site has quietly powered the web for over 25 years, long before “the cloud” became the default answer to every technical question. This page is served from a small computer in a home office, not a faceless cloud account — proof that it still works.

Transparency compounds

When the code is open, anyone can read it, question it, and improve it. That’s not a slogan — it’s how the software world’s most trusted infrastructure actually got built: engineers checking each other’s work, sharing what they learn, and building on top of it instead of reinventing it behind closed doors. Knowledge shared in the open advances faster than knowledge locked behind a license.

Ownership over dependency

A glass box is the opposite of a black box. When you own your solution — the code, the data, the server it runs on — you’re not at the mercy of a vendor’s roadmap, a sudden price hike, or a shutdown notice. Third-party platforms can change the terms whenever they want. A system you actually understand and control can’t be taken away from you.
